We’re Ash and Marcus, the founders of The Underground Bakery.
We started out as a small, wholesale operation in the basement of Ash`s house - this is where we got our underground name from. We were selling to small cafes and shops.
As we grew in popularity, it was clear we needed to move out of Ash’s basement and open up our own shop. After a lengthy process - including lockdown - we found a spot in Otley. We opened The Underground Bakery 15th April 2022. It’s been a pleasure to be so welcomed by the community.
Between the two of us, we’ve got over 25 years of experience in the catering industry. We wanted to join forces and build something that allows us to push our creativity. We both have chef backgrounds so we’re always trying out different flavour combinations and methods.
We offer a wide selection of pastries. We cover the basics like almond croissants and cinnamon buns, but we always like to add our own twists and flavours. Plus, you’ve got to see the size of them - we go big!
We love experimenting with flavours that excite and intrigue us. At our bakery, you’ll get unique flavours and creations that you won’t find anywhere else. Please ask the team about cruffins when you come in, trust us, you won’t regret it.
From handmade chocolates and lavish pastries, to freshly baked bread and breakfast sandwiches - we’re so passionate about what we make. For a better taste of what we do, you’ll have to pop down and check us out. In the meantime, take a look at our Instagram to see our latest creations.
We aim to use the best ingredients we can get and source them as locally as possible. Our coffee is from Casa Espresso in Baildon, Leeds. It has a great flavour profile, especially when paired with pastries and cakes.
We pride ourselves on friendly service and making sure everyone leaves happy. Come for the baked goods, and stay for a chat.
